The First Tennis Program in Lawrence, MA.
Empowering Lawrence Youth Through Tennis, Education, and Opportunity
Who is Serving Stars?
Serving Stars is where tennis meets transformation in Lawrence. We use the game as a gateway to growth, combining tennis, fitness, and educational enrichment with experiences that expand horizons and build confidence.
Our students do more than learn how to hit a forehand. They take trips to Harvard University and Brooks School, where they step onto college courts and discover new academic possibilities. They attend a high school placement fair that opens doors to rigorous educational opportunities. They engage in service learning projects with partners like Lazarus House and the YMCA food pantry, giving back to their community. They also build healthy habits through fitness tracking that helps them see their own progress over time.
Every moment on and off the court is designed to show kids in Lawrence that they belong, that they are capable, and that their future is filled with possibility. Serving Stars is more than a program. It is a pathway.

What is the NJTL?
About the history of NJTLs!
In 1969, tennis legend Arthur Ashe launched the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network with a simple but powerful vision: use tennis to capture young people’s attention — and then help them build character, pursue education, and become leaders in their communities.
Today, that vision has grown into a nationwide movement. With more than 250 NJTL chapters, the network now serves over 160,000 youth every year, offering free or low-cost tennis and education programs. Serving Stars is proud to be part of this legacy, carrying Arthur Ashe’s mission forward in Lawrence.
